Evans & Associates November 8-10, 2018 Americana & Fine Antiques Auction was a highly successful event and produced robust prices – along with a few surprises - in multiple categories. The three-day format consisted of 2,001 lots of high-quality material, much of which was fresh to the market, and, in several cases, had descended directly in the families of the original owners. Bidding was intense throughout each day with thousands of registered bidders from numerous countries participating in house and online.

Evans & Associates will conduct their 18th annual spring auction of 18th & 19th century glass and lighting on May 20th beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.  The sale will feature the collections of glass author and scholar Joan E. Kaiser of Sandwich, MA, and the late Roger Gehman of Pittsburgh, PA.  The renowned Kaiser collection comprises an outstanding selection of Sandwich and South Boston glass of all types including many important pieces published in Barlow/Kaiser, The Glass Industry in Sandwich, volumes 1-5, and Kaiser, The Glass Industry in South Boston.  A printed color catalogue of the entire Kaiser collection is available for $37.20 postpaid.

    Miniature and Other Lamps Light the Way

    The highlight of the 330 lots of miniature lamps offered were examples of the Swan figural lamp in all four known opaque colors, each complete with its extremely rare original shade and in excellent condition. The two most elusive colors being pink [Lot 57] and green [Lot 56] which sold for $6,325 and $5,175 respectively. Other miniature lamps that drew strong competition included one of three known bisque Elf figural lamps [Lot 294] that reached $4,600 and a Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co. cased blue with satin finish Basket pattern lamp with very rare matching umbrella-form shade [Lot 42] that closed at $2,645.
