VIRGINIA "POT OF FLOWERS" VARIATION APPLIQUE QUILT, hand- and machine-stitched, various print fabrics on white, ten pattern blocks with diagonal channeled quilting, alternating with ten blocks of single floret motifs and scalloped quilting, double border to all four sides with diagonal channeled quilting, back-over-front binding, three-paneled solid yellow fabric backing. Together with a "Lone Star" pieced quilt probably by the same hand, central eight-point star in various colored solid and print fabrics, made from approximately 512 pieces, on a yellow ground with single blue border to all four sides, diagonal grid and outline quilting, applied binding with rounded corners, three-paneled print fabric backing featuring flower and bird pattern. Two pieces total.

Condition: Applique in very good overall condition, top with scattered stains and light toning, light fading along one side edge and to some orange centers, two blocks with each having loss to stitching on a bud stem, backing with areas of light fading and toning, a few stains and spots; pieced quilt top good to very good overall condition with some fading notably to center fold lines and edges, some scattered stains and spotting, backing in excellent condition with light toning to center fold lines and light fading along edges. Applique quilt with original tracing lines for quilting present on top, as made.
