SOUTHERN RIB-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT BASKET, white oak, with wrapped double rim and arched handle displaying distinctive twist at juncture with rim. Original dry natural surface.

Condition: Very good overall condition, with areas of expected usage wear.

Circa : Late 19th/early 20th century.

Item Dimensions: 6 1/2" HOA, 4 1/4" H rim, 6 1/2" D rim.

Provenance : Property of a Shenandoah Valley private collector.

Catalog Note : Catalogue Note: The present basket resembles the work of Mary Josephine Brown Causby (1873-1955). Many of her finest baskets feature the distinctive vertical twist at the handle-rim juncture as seen on the example offered here.
