STUART (1833-1864) CONFEDERATE GENERAL AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED, single page ink on paper, to his cousin, probably Alexander Hugh Holmes Stuart of Staunton, VA, written from the USMA, West Point, NY, May 30th (no year), acknowledging a $100 loan from his cousin, looking forward to the upcoming encampment and visits by his family, and discussing the Hippodrome, ends "Give my love to Cousin Fanny Augusta Baldwin.", signed "Yours truly, JEB Stuart".

Condition : Very good condition with typical fold creases causing one tiny hole and two 1 1/4" separations, top edge laid on card stock.

Circa : 1850-1854.

Provenance : From the collection of H. C. Stuart and Emily Cochran, Stuart House, Staunton, VA. Property descended in the family of Archibald Stuart (1757-1832).
