BRITISH PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, silk on linen, upper half with a seven-row verse, lower half with various pictorial motifs including a central potted plant having two birds perched on branches, flanked by two castle-type buildings surrounded by trees, hearts, crowns, plants, and dogs, signed "Elizabeth Berryman / Aged / 11 ys / 1835", all surrounded by a scrolling vine border. Housed under glass in a period birdseye maple veneer frame.

Condition: Thread in very good visual condition with minimal fading and fugitive color, possibly one or a few minor losses, linen with several scattered holes, a few stains and spots, frame with wear, surface scratches, some losses to veneer, glue reinforcement to corners. Not examined out of frame.

Circa : Dated 1835.
