Catalogued Auctions

Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates actively seeks quality consignments from single items to entire collections.  We specialize in 18th to early 20th century glass and lighting, Virginia and Southern decorative arts, and all types of Americana, antiques and fine arts.

We offer competitive commission rates and welcome the opportunity to include your consignment in an appropriate auction or create a special, single-owner auction for your collection.  Our standard sliding commission rate schedule is based on the amount that each consigned lot brings at public auction.  Once we have made a preliminary assessment of your consignment, we will be best able to discuss the details of your potential consignment.

Nearly all of the consignments we accept are sold at unreserved public auction; however, the auctioneer may determine that special circumstances warrant a reserve, or a sale by private treaty.  These options are offered at the auctioneer’s discretion and should be discussed during the consignment evaluation phase.

Monthly catalogued auctions are held at our state-of-the-art auction gallery in Mount Crawford, Virginia.  Catalogues, which include detailed item descriptions for all lots, are posted online approximately two weeks prior to the auction.

Examples of past auction catalogues

Registered bidders have the option to submit absentee bids and/or participate “live” during the sale either in person, or remotely by telephone or computer.  Since 2007 our auctions have been available on the Internet for "live" real-time bidding through both Artfact, LLC (Allston, MA) and Live Auctioneers, LLC (New York, NY).

The online "live" bidding option allows people from around the world to participate in our auctions via the Internet.  The massive exposure to serious collectors and dealers worldwide is an extremely important factor in achieving strong prices for your consignment.  We are currently partnered with Live Auctioneers to provide "live" Internet bidding.

Most of our catalogued auctions are preceded by a three-day public preview, typically held between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before a Saturday (or Saturday-Sunday) auction.  On a typical auction day, we open at 8:00 a.m. and the sale starts at 9:30 a.m., allowing an additional 90 minutes of preview time before the auction begins.

We sell in lot number order, beginning with lot #1.  Due to high-end auction lots and heavy competition from floor, telephone and "live" Internet bidders, the selling pace of our auctions can range from 80 to 140 lots per hour.  Our average selling pace is 110 lots per hour

Offered in conjunction with our monthly catalogued auctions are:
